Gerry Durnell
　　Gerry Durnell founded Pizza Today magazine in the back of his pizzeria in 1983 and simultaneously developed the National Association of Pizza Operators and 損izza only　trade show, that became the largest of its type in the world, known as Pizza Expo.

　　Durnell抯 highly synergistic trade publishing/trade show/trade association combination, have become a much imitated model in the profitable enterprise梠ffers to sell were routinely received over the past several years and routinely turned down as he went on to become the master of micro-niche publishing and ancillary development.

　　Only recently did that change when an all-cash offer coupled with a reduced transition time requirement on the part of Durnell and his wife and business partner, Kaye, was presented by the former publisher of the National Enquirer.

　　It was a deal that was just too good to pas up and the sale was consummated on April 5, 2000. Gerry, the eternal pizza publishing optimist notes, 揑 kinda hate to see it go. The beauty of the pizza business was, if things really got bad, you could always eat your inventory梑ut it was the time to move on.

　　Gerry抯 eclectic background started in Santa Paula, CA, and included the diversity of growing up on a Missouri farm, working his through college as a rock & roll disc jockey, loving and driving sports cars, flying combat reconnaissance and surveillance missions (196 of them) with the US Army in Vietnam, serving three terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, and along the way, owning and working in a printing company, advertising agency, political consulting firm, design house, and pizza ship.

　　Durnell抯 most recent business acquisition is the purchase of Automobile Quarterly, and upscale hardbound magazine described by automobile writers as 揟he world抯 finest automobile magazine which he and Kay are in the process of relocating to offices near their Louisville, KY, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, homes.
